Established in 1845, Grant Medical College (GMC) and Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals in Mumbai are among India's oldest and most prestigious medical institutions. लोकशाही सेनानी डॉ. जी. जी. परिख यांचे जे. जे. हॉस्पिटल येथे देहदान लोकशाही सेनानी म्हणून ओळख असलेले डॉ. जी. जी. परिख यांचे दि. ०२-१०-२०२५ रोजी निधन झाले. वयाच्या १०१ व्या वर्षी त्यांनी आपले वैद्यकीय शिक्षण पूर्ण केले होते व आयुष्यभर स्वतःला सामाजिक कार्यामध्ये झोकून दिले होते. निधनानंतर त्यांनी आपले शरीर विज्ञान शिक्षणासाठी जे. जे. हॉस्पिटल येथे देहदान केले असून, त्यांच्या कुटुंबीयांनीही या निर्णयास सहमती दर्शवली. जे. जे. गट रूग्णालय प्रशासनाकडून निधनानंतर देहदान या महत्त्वाच्या कार्यासाठी त्यांना मानवंदना देण्यात आली. तसेच डॉ. जी. जी. परिख यांचे निकटवर्तीय तसेच जे. जे. हॉस्पिटलचे अधिष्ठाता डॉ. अतुल कामत, उपअधिष्ठाता डॉ. नितीन गोई, वैद्यकीय अधीक्षक डॉ. संतोष सुर्यवंशी, शरीररचना विभाग प्रमुख डॉ. भावनी तडको, वैद्यकीय अधिकारी डॉ. जसवंत ढकले, डॉ. दिनेश गजरे, वरिष्ठ निवासी डॉक्टर व कर्मचारी उपस्थित होते. निधनानंतर देहदान हे वैद्यकीय शिक्षण विभागासाठी फार महत्त्वाचे असून, या माध्यमातून विद्यार्थ्यांना मानवी शरीरशास्त्र शिकण्याचा मौल्यवान अनुभव मिळतो. लोकांनी देहदान करून वैज्ञानिक शिक्षणाला हातभार लावावा असे आवाहन जे. जे. रुग्णालयाचे अधिष्ठाता डॉ. अतुल कामत यांनी केले तसेच डॉ. जी. जी. परिख यांच्या निकटवर्तीयांचे आभार मानले.
